april fools

Late last night, I suddenly remembered that I did something fun for April Fool's Day last year. So I had to come up with something to do for them today. I remembered seeing meatloaf made to look like cupcakes with mashed potatoes as frosting. Really easy and fun. I also made "peas and carrots" from green Airheads and orange Starbursts. I had everything set at the table when everyone came to eat. And it actually fooled them. They said "We get cupcakes for dinner?! What is the real dinner? That's a dessert." Cole even got excited when he started to peel the cupcake wrapper away cause he thought it was chocolate. Hee hee.

Terrible picture, I know, but I didn't even think to check it after taking it. I did get out rolls (homemade even :) and green beans to go with the meatloaf - lest you think I really let them just eat candy and a tiny meatloaf.
Strange thing about Peyton - he LOVES green beans! He can eat an entire can by himself. And after he ate the 4 servings I put on his plate, he said "Mom, can I have a bite of yours?"

What a cute idea... I bet you can do that every day and your kids will eat meatloaf more often.. it is like a shepard pie in a cupcake...
